AIDAnova boat rescues four from burning fishing vessel
The Danish-flagged vessel’s crew escaped without reported injuries during an October 18 emergency in the Skagerrak.

Four crewmembers abandoned a burning Danish-flagged fishing vessel in the Skagerrak on the afternoon of October 18 and were rescued by a boat launched from the cruise ship AIDAnova.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre of Southern Norway coordinated the response and said no injuries were reported among the fishing vessel’s four occupants. A Norwegian rescue helicopter dispatched from Sola reached the scene at 15:23 but turned back after all four crewmembers had been accounted for.
Color Line’s SuperSpeed 1, which was sailing toward Kristiansand, was also directed to the area with other nearby civilian vessels. The ferry was released shortly after 15:30 and then resumed its route. A passenger estimated that the crossing was delayed by one to one-and-a-half hours.
The cause of the fire was unknown. The fishing vessel was not named, and the nationalities of the rescued crewmembers were not disclosed.
