$66 million Philadelphia-area cruise terminal opens
Norwegian Cruise Line’s regional schedule now extends into 2028 under a long-term agreement with PhilaPort.
A $66 million cruise terminal has opened in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, following Norwegian Cruise Line’s return to the Philadelphia area earlier this year. Norwegian became the first cruise operator to sail from the region in more than 15 years.
The terminal supports a seven-year agreement between Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and PhilaPort that runs through March 31, 2033. The partnership gives area residents access to Norwegian voyages without traveling to the company’s other East Coast ports in New York, Boston or Miami.
Norwegian Jewel is sailing from Philadelphia through Sept. 26, 2026. Norwegian Pearl is scheduled to arrive in November 2026 and operate five- to 14-day itineraries to Bermuda, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Canada and New England through April 2028. Norwegian has also announced seven-day Bermuda and Atlantic Coast sailings from Philadelphia aboard Norwegian Gem for summer 2028.
Dan Farkas, executive vice president of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said the industry’s regional return is expected to support about 2,200 jobs and generate roughly $300 million in local economic activity each year. As part of the terminal celebration, the company also announced $50,000 in contributions for communities across Greater Philadelphia.
